I'm Home

It was fun, and now I am finished looking at, listening to, eating, drinking and breathing Spain. This experience helped me see my true home with new eyes. It's pretty amazing here too, especially the BBB part.

Domingo de Quazimodo

Is a celebration the Sunday after Semana Santa in Zafra. Evidently people get confirmed in the church, and their Madrona is escorted around La Iglesia de la Candelera (for a couple laps) by the local Caballeros, band, and devotees. There is also a lamb stew cook off, with prizes, and of course much beer drinking.

To get to the church from the hotel we walk up a hill, and pass this  stream.

Parador de Zafra

is actually the name. Here are some pictures of the outside and the view from the balcony.

This is one of the many Paradores run by the Paradores de Turismo de Espana. It is an old Roman fort/castle named Alcazar de Los Duquesne de Feria, constructed in 1437 & 1443.  E76 a night, and the sheets are dreamy. It's in Zafra Extremadura, not exactly close to the major highlights, but we still think we may never leave.

We hit the road

The first day we go to Ronda, a city built on a gorge. And on the way home we stop at Cuevo de Los Gatos and take a few pictures.
The second day we go to Sanlucar de la Barrameda, but it is closed (after 2:00), so we drive to Chipiona and drink a beer of course, swim in the Atlantic, pics to follow someday, then eat on the boardwalk.
The third day we go to La Alhambra, and I was too in awe to take pictures, so there are only a few of the puffy walls.
Finally, we leave Arcos for Sevilla.

Fran and Cal join us

And we eat in Seville, then check in to the house that we rented in Arcos de la Frontera. I am excited about the. Bathroom, and a man in my bed!
